DP World Tour: Race to Dubai, Global Swings and Key Events
The DP World Tour connects national Opens, historic European tournaments and events across the world in one season-long race: the Race to Dubai.

What makes the DP World Tour different?
The DP World Tour is the main men’s professional tour of the European Tour group. Its calendar moves across continents and combines historic national Opens with international events, often in partnership with other tours. That global reach gives the season a varied rhythm: players may move from desert golf to links courses, from long-standing European venues to tournaments in Asia, Africa and the Middle East.
How the Race to Dubai is structured
The season-long Race to Dubai ranking is points-based and rewards performance across the calendar. In the 2026 structure, the season is divided into three broad phases. The Global Swings give different regions their own mini-races; the Back 9 brings together nine prominent tournaments with increased ranking stakes; and the Play-Offs decide the final order at the season’s end. The exact number of events, eligibility details and point allocation are updated by the Tour, so use the current official rankings for season-specific questions.
Events worth knowing
The Rolex Series is the Tour’s premium category and includes major fixtures such as the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, Genesis Scottish Open, BMW PGA Championship, Abu Dhabi Championship and DP World Tour Championship in the current 2026 structure. National Opens and other established events are equally important to the tour’s character, as they bring local golf traditions into a season-wide contest.
Why the points matter
Every week offers more than a trophy. Players are also trying to climb the Race to Dubai standings, retain or improve tour status, qualify for the Play-Offs and earn opportunities on other major circuits. The season story is therefore about both who wins a tournament and what that result changes for the months ahead.
