Gezira Golf: A Historic Nine-Hole Course on Zamalek Island
Gezira Golf occupies a rare green space in central Cairo, within the long-established Gezira Sporting Club on Zamalek Island. The course is closely tied to the city’s sporting history and offers a compact round in a setting shaped by mature trees, established club grounds and the nearby Nile.
Course at a glance
Design and playing character
Current course mapping records a nine-hole, par-35 layout of approximately 2,913 yards. Its holes combine short and longer challenges, including par threes that reward precise iron play and par fives where position is important. The compact format is well suited to golfers who want a focused round or practice session without leaving central Cairo.
Setting and club facilities
The course is part of the larger Gezira Sporting Club, an institution that has been central to Cairo’s sporting and social life for generations. The surrounding district of Zamalek is known for its tree-lined streets, cultural venues and Nile-side setting, so a round here feels distinctly connected to the city rather than to a remote resort.
