The Cascades at Soma Bay: Gary Player’s Red Sea Championship Course
The Cascades is the signature golf course at Soma Bay, set on a peninsula overlooking the Red Sea. Designed by Gary Player, it blends a championship layout with a dramatic coastal setting, where sea views and changing wind conditions form part of the playing experience. The course is closely connected to the resort’s wider golf and wellness offering.

Course design and playing experience
The 18-hole course plays to par 72 and offers multiple tee positions to suit different standards of golfer. Its routing brings the shoreline into view across the round, while lakes and water hazards add strategic interest. The ninth hole is especially distinctive, with an island green that places precision at the centre of the approach. Gary Player’s design philosophy emphasises a varied mix of shots and a layout that tests experienced players while remaining accessible to those building their game.
Club and practice facilities
The club includes a clubhouse with changing rooms, showers, lockers and a pro shop. A golf academy staffed by PGA professionals offers individual and group lessons, while a driving range and practice areas give golfers the opportunity to warm up or work on specific parts of their game. The wider Soma Bay resort adds accommodation, restaurants and recreation around the course.
