Jordan Spieth reached the summit early, winning the Masters and U.S. Open in 2015, completing a historic season with the FedExCup and adding The Open Championship in 2017. His putting, course management and emotional intensity have made him one of the most compelling players of his generation.

From early promise to the professional game
The turning points that shaped a distinctive career.
Jordan Alexander Spieth was born in Dallas, Texas, on 27 July 1993. He developed into one of the leading junior golfers in the United States, attended the University of Texas and turned professional in 2012. His first PGA TOUR win came at the 2013 John Deere Classic, when he was still a teenager.
Spieth’s breakthrough season arrived in 2015. He won the Masters by four strokes with a record-equalling 18-under-par total, then captured the U.S. Open at Chambers Bay. Later in the year he won the TOUR Championship and the FedExCup, finishing a season that brought five PGA TOUR victories and established him as world No. 1.
In 2017, Spieth added The Open Championship at Royal Birkdale. His final-round recovery from a lost lead included a dramatic decision to take an unplayable lie and a long birdie putt on the 13th, before he finished with a three-shot victory. The win gave him three different major titles and left the PGA Championship as the missing leg of the career Grand Slam.
Spieth’s official career record lists 13 PGA TOUR victories and three major championships. He reached world No. 1 in 2015 and spent 26 weeks at the top. Team events have also been central to his career, with repeated Ryder Cup and Presidents Cup appearances. Through peaks and quieter seasons, his competitive identity has remained tied to imaginative putting, feel around the greens and an ability to turn momentum quickly.

Playing style and legacy
What distinguished the player and how the career shaped the sport.
Spieth is known for feel-driven putting, an imaginative short game and course management built around choosing when to attack and when to protect a score. He often plays with visible emotion, a trait that can energise a charge but also makes momentum swings part of his public profile.
His 2015 season and three different major titles place him among the leading players of his era. The PGA Championship remains the one major he has yet to win, leaving the career Grand Slam as a continuing narrative rather than a completed milestone.
