Albatross Golf Resort: Czech Masters Golf on Prague’s Doorstep

Just outside Prague, Albatross pairs a modern championship layout with the rolling landscape of Central Bohemia. Its tournament record is significant, but the course is designed to offer more than a professional test.

Albatross Golf Resort has become one of the Czech Republic’s best-known tournament venues, yet its appeal is not limited to professional golf. Set in the rolling countryside of Central Bohemia within sight of Prague, the course combines a modern championship scale with a layout that allows players to choose how demanding they want the round to be. Its five teeing options are central to that flexibility.

01 / Landscape and architecture

A championship course in the Central Bohemian countryside

Designed by English architect Keith Preston, the 18-hole course opened in 2009. Its setting outside Prague gives it a countryside character without placing it far from the capital. Rolling terrain, broad playing corridors, bunkers and water features create variety across the round, while the modern clubhouse and practice facilities make the resort a complete golf stop.

The layout measures 6,792 metres from the black championship tees and offers five sets of tees. That range is important: the same hole can present a very different proposition depending on the starting point, allowing accomplished players to take on the full test while giving other golfers a more proportionate route.

02 / How the course plays

Variety, tee choice and control of the approach

The course asks players to balance distance with accuracy. The landing areas provide options, but bunkers and water influence which side of the fairway gives the best angle into the green. Five teeing positions allow golfers to adjust the overall challenge, yet the key decisions remain the same: choose a line that leaves a clear approach and avoid turning a small positional error into a difficult second shot.

The resort places particular emphasis on the quality of its playing surfaces. That gives the approach game and putting a meaningful role in the round, especially when tournament conditions sharpen the challenge.

03 / Championship history

A regular stop on the Czech professional calendar

Albatross hosted Ladies European Tour events in 2011 and 2012, only a short time after opening. It later became the home of the D+D REAL Czech Masters on the DP World Tour from 2014 through 2023, welcoming many of the leading names in international golf.

That run of tournaments established Albatross as a recognised championship venue for Central Europe. For visitors, the attraction is the opportunity to play the same course that has tested professionals, while choosing a tee position that suits their own game.
