Arcadia Bluffs Golf Club: Michigan’s Lakefront Links Experience
Arcadia Bluffs brings a links-style golf experience to Michigan’s Lake Michigan shoreline, with rolling native grasses, sod-walled bunkers, broad fairways and open-water views.
Arcadia Bluffs opened in 1999 on a spectacular stretch of Michigan shoreline. Warren Henderson routed the course across former orchard and wooded land, shaping a links-style landscape with rolling mounds, native grasses, sod-walled bunkers and wide fairways. Lake Michigan remains in view through much of the round, giving the course a strong sense of place.
A links-style landscape above Lake Michigan
01 / COURSE
The Bluffs Course is known for its open setting and wind-swept native grasses. The fairways are broad, but the coastal wind and uneven terrain can change the playing line quickly. Sod-walled bunkers and spacious greens add a links-inspired character, while the lake provides a dramatic horizon from many holes.
The course was built on approximately 240 acres that included orchards and wooded areas. Henderson shaped the mounds and native ground as the routing developed, giving the property a rugged appearance that feels connected to the surrounding landscape.
The 12th hole and the changing bluff line
02 / COURSE
Arcadia Bluffs continues to evolve. The resort has modified several green complexes and bunkers over time, and the iconic 12th hole has received a revised fairway and green option that gives players an inland line as well as the dramatic bluff-side route. That choice can make the hole more approachable without removing its strategic identity.
The course is a reminder that links-style golf is not only about wide fairways. Wind, lie, angle and the contour of the green all influence how a hole should be played. Choosing the correct side of the fairway can be more important than adding extra distance.
Public access with a seasonal operating calendar
03 / COURSE
Arcadia Bluffs is open to the public during its operating season. The official site lists 2027 operation dates from April 1 through November 30, making it important to plan around the seasonal window rather than assume year-round play. Rates and tee-time availability are published through the course’s booking channels.
Visitors can choose to ride in GPS-equipped carts, walk or use the seasonal caddie programme. Check the course’s current booking page for rates, available services and any operational changes before arranging a Michigan golf trip.
The lake is the backdrop; the wind is the playing partner.
Arcadia Bluffs offers a wide coastal landscape, but the wind and the route along the bluff demand careful choices. The seasonal calendar is just as important when planning a visit.
